The word mini can have several meanings when referring to window air conditioners. More often than not, it is in reference to the amount of BTU the unit has. 5000 to 7000 BTU is intended for use in smaller rooms therefore air conditioners with a smaller amount of BTU can be referred to as mini window air conditioners. However, sometimes people want window units that are smaller in dimension and weight for easy installation so as not to have a huge unit hanging out their window, blocking their view. This LG model has 6000 BTU. It is known as a low profile window air conditioner meaning that is smaller in its dimensions and quieter in sound. Its dimensions are 20.88” W x 12” H x 18.03” D. This model also has an EER of 10.7 making it Energy Star compliant. Although this it is known to be a mini model it is a tad larger than the others listed below.

This Frigidaire model is one of the smallest of all mini window air conditioners. Its dimensions are only 16″ W x 12″ H x 13 1/4″ D. It weighs only 35lbs. This unit is very easy to install on your own. It has a BTU of 5000 and a 9.7 EER. It has 2 fan and cooling speeds, 2-way air direction, and an anti-bacterial mesh filter. This unit also uses R410A refrigerant. It also is a quieter unit with decibel ranges from 50-54.
G.E. AHR05LP
At 5000 BTU and dimensions of 17 9/32” W x 11 5/32” H x 12 27/32” D, this unit is very compact as well. Like the Frigidaire FRA052XT7 it has 2 fan and cooling speeds, 2-way air direction, and R410A refrigerant. It also has an EER of 9.7. This unit weighs 37lbs. Unfortunately, it doesn’t list any decibel ranges. Most brands don’t list dB ranges. However, by customer review it is said to be rather quiet.
Amana AMA05KF
The Amana AMA05KF is similar in dimension to the G.E. AHR05LP. Its dimensions are 17.3” W x 11.2” H x 12.8” D. This unit like the 2 listed above, has an EER of 9.7. Its weight is 36.6lbs. It has 3 fan and cooling speeds, R410A refrigerant and 2-way air direction. This unit is also known for its ultra quiet operation.
